Unexpected Repurpose

I have been reading a lot of design blogs that highlight a lot of DIY articles.  One of my favorite sites:  ApartmentTherapy.com posted a great repurpose today for a kitchen cabinet door:

The combination of colors, design, hardware, and size are completely limitless.  I’m sure you can find salvaged doors at just about any restoration store.

10 Common Thift Store Finds

Check out a great article from ApartmentTherapy.com on 10 Common Thift Store Finds.

This is a great article to figure out what to look for at a thift store, but it also supplies great links on how to use (or display) your “finds”.

Here are a couple of the pictures from links within the article:

Ceiling Medallions as Wall Art

I’m in love with the use of varying sizes of ceiling medallions as wall art.   You can purchase medallions here for a pretty reasonable price.  I’d love to see pictures of how you incorporate these into your design!

Nice walls.

I love how impactful these walls look!

Twitter sends to Google Calendar and Facebook

I’ve become insanely obsessed with Twitter… and not for the reasons you would think. I’m not posting updates everything three seconds about what I’m doing, instead, I’m using Twitter to update my Facebook status messages daily. Why? Because TwitterCal is a fantastic service that stores everything you’ve posted on Twitter into a Google Calendar so you can read your past status updates!

If you would like to allow Twitter to also update your Facebook you’ll need to give it permission to do so. Just visit the Twitter page on Facebook and click the “Go to Application” button.

Kanye and Lady Gaga Tour CANCELLED!

When I heard the announcement of the “FAME KILLS” tour with Kanye and Lady Gaga
I was a little concerned that she was considering doing a show with that loser.

Thankfully, Gaga canceled the tour. I hope it was because her fans complained about partnering up with
someone so unappreciative of his fans and other musical artists.

Kanye, FAME KILLS… and you’ve killed your fame.

Best Florida Roller Coaster

My last trip to Florida gave me the opportunity to ride three of the newest coasters built at Universal, SeaWorld, and Busch Gardens.

Universal: Hollywood Rip Ride Rock It

This coaster gives each rider the ability to choose a song that will play for the users ride.
The speakers are located on either side of the headrests (see photo below) and the selection panel is located on the lapbar.

Unfortunately this ride experienced a lot of issue during my visit and I only got the chance to ride it once.

Here is a virtual tour of the ride: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pR8cbXaMOfg

SeaWorld: Manta

WOW. The barrell roll in this ride is amazing. Not only was the ride thrilling and offered features that hadn’t been seen (or felt) before, but this also had the most appealing rider queue line. It was simply beatiful. A cavern filled with views into aquariums full of sting rays, fish, and tons of other underwater creatures.

(Sorry about the quality, I took it with my camera phone,… which doesn’t include a flash.)

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8kfo39hmJI (I apologize for the annoying guy!)

This was by far my favorite coaster! I lost track of how many times I rode this in a row, I think it was somewhere near 7 or 8.

Busch Gardens: Sheikra

This coaster, which is by far the scariest, offers a 200ft vertical drop. As you can see from the video below, you dangle at the edge of this drop for at least three seconds before you are finally released.
Definitely a very cool ride.

If I were to rate these in regards to speed and thrill it would have to be in the following:

1. SeaWorld Manta
2. Busch Gardens Sheikra
3. Universal Hollywood Rip Tide Rock It

If you have riden these before, please leave a comment and include your vote and your indivual ride experience.

Ellen DeGeneres

Paula Abdul announced she was not going to be a judge for the next season of American Idol. Ellen DeGeneres will be taking her place! I can’t wait to see how her humor intertwines with the other judges.
At least she will be able to formulate a complete sentence!
